Event: A Night With Chris Turner

He’s been compared to D’Angelo and Maxwell. He’s been in the studio with Esperanza Spalding. He sings backup for Bilal. He was a featured artist on this year’s BET Music Matters Showcase. And on December 28th Chris Turner will make his Oakland debut at Vitus (201 Broadway) with The Park. We’re sure it will be a great set that shows the crooner’s hometown what all the hype is about.

Presented by 3680 Photography, it’s the official after party for Oakland singer Mara Hruby’s show at Yoshi’s, which you should also be at. Between Ms. Hruby, Chris Turner and Ms. Siaira Shawn (who’s opening for Chris) it will be an epic evening of homegrown soul you won’t want to miss!

Not convinced?

Listen to any of Chris’s covers (try Bob Marley’s “Turn Your Lights Down Low,” Stevie Wonder’s “Feeding Off the Land”  or  Sade’s “Kiss of Life”), and you’ll get a sense of his range and the music that moves and inspires him to create. He’s a man who respects the craft and is all about the “reawakening of the romantic movement.” Take a listen to his first single, “Liquid Love,” and you’ll also see why there’s only so long this background thing can work out for him.
