Music Video: Locksmith: “Transitions”

Lock SmithThe concept is 9th Wonder’s. The production is the work of Khrysis and Eric G. The video was directed by the Brain Strong collective at the 5 Pointz Aerosol Art Center in Queens, NY. But this track is undeniably the work of Richmond’s Locksmith. On so many levels, the MC embodies the spirit of the underdog. Clearly more talented than many of his peers, he still, unfortunately, exists below the radar. In his new song “Transitions” he rhymes: They overlook me in my region like the Chilean Blacks/I refuse to keep playing in this decaying trap/now it’s to the point I’m reluctant to even say I rap.

Fortunately for us, he does still rap. Locksmith is still putting out quality material when others are solely concerned with social media buzz and pretending to be something they aren’t. Not only is he transparent is his lyrics, he’s also launched a webseries titled The Green Box, which will give viewers a look as his life growing up in Richmond. Peep his latest video and the series below and make sure you’re on the look out for his new album #TheGreenBox.

Props to The Smoking Section.
