We’re told that “Bien Ribetiao” means “swaggin.” The comic book-style word bubbles that pepper the video translate phrases and help us understand a bit more. But, the reality is we’ve gotten used to not understanding what Los Rakas is rhyming and rocking, and sometimes rapping along with the tracks anyway. Call it the power of good music. Their latest single samples The Beastie Boys’ “The New Style,” with “drop” sprinkled throughout the track, similar to when Pharcyde used it. Whether it’s the beat, the vocal sample that draws you in, you’ll get the urge to turn it up.
On the note of style, swag etc. the song carries extra weight now that Los Rakas won the Modelo Especial Black Canvas Project. The duo competed with Joell Ortiz, John West, and Kevin Rudolf for the chance to have a shoe produced by PUMA.

Guess who won? Big ups to Los Rakas!
Last item of news, Los Rakas has a show at The Independent on Friday. Go jam with the crew and a live band. Wish them congrats. And if you don’t know any other words, yell “DROP” when they perform “Bien Ribetiao.”
