Tonight, the legendary Yoshis jazz club across from Jack London Square will host a dynamic line-up of female singers who hail from The Town. The voices of Jennifer Johns, Jimmie Reign, RyanNicole, Chloe Deshelle and Femi range from smooth to funky to soaring. They represent a variety of styles and genres, but together represent The Bay Area in all it’s rangy beauty. All alone have rocked amazing shows. And yet here they are together under one roof. Did we mention that Pam The Funkstress will also be spinning and Kev Choice is the musical director?
And of course it wouldn’t be a truly Bay Area event without community uplift factored into the equation. The show is also functioning as a launch party for Jennifer John’s new website www.go-liv.com, designed to foster investment in localized food systems. Like many Bay Area musicians, Johns considers herself an Artivist; that is to say that she often harnesses her music in pursuit of raising consciousness about the issues that are important to her. This form of edutainment allows art to not just appeal to one’s aesthetic sensibilities, but also to serve a function in society. Tonight, we will have a front row seat as Johns shares both sides of herself along side some of the Bay Area’s most gifted singers.
Go-Liv Launch Party is 5-7pm
Concert starts at 8pm
