We’ve all received the dreaded “pocket call,” but thanks to Richmond’s y.t.f.l.i.n.s.t.o.n.e., we now have the perfect soundtrack to deal with it. With his new music video for “Pocket Call,” the 22 year old rapper has made it clear that he thrives on chill simplicity. In fact, the video and track’s lowkey vibe is emblematic of its parent mixtape, The Placebo Effect (audio manga 1), a collection of new age jazz-infused tracks featuring yt’s intricate offbeat lyricism. “Pocket Call” is a great introduction to the larger project. With 9th Wonder’s subterranean production and the Richmond native’s nostalgic love-centric narrative, heartbreak has never sounded so good.
“Pocket Call,” directed by y.t.f.l.i.n.s.t.o.n.e under his alias, Fin Flinn, is the second single off of his mixtape, Placebo Effect .
