A Weekend In SF: Gay Pride + Anita Baker with The Family Stone

By Coolhand Luke  |  June 23rd, 2012  |  Published in Events, Featured, , , , ,

This weekend you might want to venture over to The City to enjoy the festivities surrounding Gay Pride. And if you weren’t aware its also the 75th Anniversary of Stern Grove‘s free outdoor concert series! On Sunday June 24th the legendary Anita Baker will be gracing the stage with Bay Area legends The Family Stone at 2pm. It should be a lovely day, but be sure to bring a blanket and dress in layers for that Frisco fog.

Before and after that, head downtown to Pride! There will be a parade, performances, nudity, and gallivanting galore. Remember that Pride is for everyone. At this time of year there is always mumbling in more homophobic circles that straight people shouldn’t be caught dead there, but pay them no mind. Pride is about expressing your right to be who you are free of persecution, and I’m hard pressed to think of an ideal more American than that.
