38thnotes presents: The Bay Abridged Mixtape: March 2011

By Coolhand Luke  |  April 7th, 2011  |  Published in Music, The Bay Abridged

March was another amazing month for Bay Area music. We had trouble pairing down this month’s offerings, but are very happy with what we came up with! We also have great news to share. 38thnotes was selected to receive an Oakland Innovators grant by local luminaries Oaklandish! That means that this summer we will be pressing up copies of our Bay Abridged mixtapes for distribution!
In other words, if you were too lazy to burn past tapes, you can pop them in the deck and slap while you cruise the The Town this summer. And since they will be available for free at select locations around the Bay, you can grab a few and distribute them to your peoples too. Please help us spread the word. There is always a gang of music being churned out of the Bay, and 38thnotes is dedicated to curating the best listening experience possible for you! Check out the best tunes of March and let us know what you think!
The cover design is by the one and only DAGHE+DIGITAL and features Oakland native, Oakland Tech alumni, former Oakland A and current hall-of-famer Rickey Henderson. The storied athlete is one of the best ball players of all time, and since the A’s will be celebrating his achievements at the end of the month with Rickey Henderson bobble head day, we thought we would pay tribute as well.
