I find the most interesting things on Tumblr. While checking out one of fave sites, “That Kind of Woman”, I spotted Mara Hruby in the freeze frame of a video. Wondering if she had released something new off the From Her Eyes EP, I pressed play. I witnessed stylish singers, poets, and MCs put their stamp on a 3 Stacks favorite over a two-day period.
The video features a combination of folks I’m feeling and folks I’ve been meaning to check out because my homies are really feeling them. There’s Jesse Boykins III whose take on another Andre track, “Prototype,” dropped this week. It’s good stuff. Also on deck is Joshua Bennett, whose poem “10 Things I Want to Say to a Black Woman,” was even circulated by folks who don’t even rock with spoken word. There’s also Melo-X, Joekenneth Museau, Theo Martins, and Rinaldy Alvarez (Google the list and be pleased). And of course to bring it back to the Bay, Ms. Mara Hruby holds it down as the only female in the crew and the sole West Coast representative. There’s about 13 minutes of footage for you to watch, plus you have to check out Street Etiquette since they put it all together, and hella hyperlinks, so I’ll stop typing. Enjoy.
