We finally found out what comedian and internet sensation Andy Milonakis was doing in Oakland a few weeks ago. Not only was he enjoying the best tacos in the town at 22nd & E14th, but he also took part in a rap battle for the ages. Although he is not a Bay resident, the fact that this took place in our own backyard warrants a post. It’s also hella funny.
GrindTime has been making major moves in the battle world for a few years now, as we have written about, but this is definitely one of the funnier battles I have watched. Andy Milonakis, who had his own show on MTV, teamed up with Dirt Nasty, an ex-MTV VJ, who turns out to be a Bay native, to face off with Bay Rappers L-Money and Frank Stacks.
This was obviously a joke, but none the less it had me laughing out loud. It’s hard to take Milonakis serious when you know he is a 34 year old man who looks like he is still waiting for puberty to hit. After doing a little research on Dirt Nasty, I found out that he not only worked for MTV but also was in a few pornos, in addition to releasing his own rap album a few years back. Very interesting to say the least. Please watch the video all the way through, it will be worth it.
Post Text: As an anonymous commenter has pointed out, there isn’t anything funny about homophobia. Unfortunately gay jokes become the default insult in the battle rapping world. If you frequently watch or attend battles, you know that all forms of bigotry are commonplace because emcees are attacking each other at face value. That means racism, homophobia and size-ism form an un-holy trinity of sorts. The whole concept of battle rapping should come with a giant asterisk for the uninitiated. Let us be clear however, that 38th Notes doesn’t sponsor such sentiments, and apologize for the offensive nature of this video. If you are easily offended, you might want to refrain from viewing. But we also hope that you would refrain from insulting our website before you do your due diligence “Anonymous.”
