Captain Stack Jack Is Praying To Leave

August 30th, 2009  |  Published in Sports

I read some very disconcerting news this morning that I thought some 38th Notes readers would want to know. Our beloved Stephan Jackson has requested a trade in order to contend for a championship in the last few years of his career. Here is the link to the ESPN article, which goes a little more in depth. He has requested that he be traded to any of the teams in Texas (Rockets, Spurs, or Mavericks) or the Cleveland Cavaliers, who he feels have the best chance to win a championship.
When I first read this, I got sick to my stomach, because Jackson is one of our only veteran leaders who can produce on the court and play defense on the wing. Without Jackson in our starting lineup it appears we would have to start Monta Ellis at the shooting guard position, which scares me to say the least. There is no guarantee that Jackson will be traded, but he is not happy in Oakland anymore and most likely will not be the most fun guy to be around until his demands are met.
We will keep you updated on what happens, but in the meantime, let us know what you think about his demands and what this means for the Warriors.
